Parenting - A Tough Job

Parenting - A Tough Job - Swati Sauarabh Vasa, Mumbai (Mandvi)

As every child is different, every parent is also different.. every child and every parent faces different challenges but certain basic things that we all need to take care... that is:

As a parent, our duty is to make our child independent.. pamper them but make them independent too...

As a parent, it's our duty to let our child explore and experience.. we just need to be present there and make sure that no accidents happen..

As a parent, it's our duty to be open minded.. to not be judgmental.. for e.g.: don't play like boys, don't cry like girl (by this we tell them to hide our emotions), pink is girl's color, kitchen is girl's place. Let them explore.. u never know there interest is in fashion designing or probably they might be number 1 chef or probably some big CEO..

As a parent, it is our duty to create some memory for our kids, that they will always remember us for (but that doesn't mean we make them dependent).. like my dad used to take us out on every Sunday to some new place, every night take us for long drive on his scooter, etc..

Our duty is to let them think in problematic situations, let them try solving problems, we just need to be there seeing that problem doesn't increase and guide them only in case issue is not solved..

Our duty is to let them be free and at the same time make them strong, confident, happy go lucky, self-sufficient..

As a parent, it is our duty to teach them gratitude.. it helps them to become positive in future.. like we are so lucky we have food to eat, we are lucky to have friends, we are lucky in any given situation as it could have been worse but it is not..

As a parent, it is our duty to teach them respect everyone irrespective of their sex, caste, creed, religion.. it is not wise to pass on our judgements and fear about ppl to our kids.. Our duty is they just be positive and confident irrespective of anything..

As a parent, it's important to balance between being strict and letting go at the same time..

We need not make them like us.. we need to help them make their own Destiny...
Our job is very tough but we have chosen it.. So, we have to do great...

Very nice guidance to parents. Really needed in today’s competative life. Every parent wants their child to be expert in all fields & so unknowingly they create stress in their kids mind. On the other hand parents spoon feed the kids so much that they don’t know how to face or deal with adverse situations. This article gives good tips to parents . Keep it up....

Very informative Swati. Also want to add one thing for parents that never compare your child with siblings. Comparison creates an inferiority complex in their mind.
